Pepin Old Fashioned Photos

19th Century Photographer Display

One of the great new additions to Laura Ingalls Wilder Days this year was a period photographer. “New in the Traditional Crafts Area, Robert Taunt from La Crosse, will appear as an early photographer from Brady Photographic Studio. He will show original photos, old style cameras and talk about the early photographic process. If you would like to have a photo made, he can recreate the old time sepia images from the era of Laura Ingalls Wilder.”

Robert Taunt, Brady Studio Photographer

Taunt doesn’t use a real tintype camera, but he has a box set up with a modern camera inside. He has filters to make it look old-fashioned like a tintype. For the fee he included two prints, one in color and one in sephia.

Laura Ingalls Wilder Events During 2018

It’s not always easy to find out about what’s going on for Laura Ingalls Wilder events around the country. I finally decided that current information is probably best posted on a month by month basis so for current information search this site for the name of the month you are looking for and the word event (for example October 2017 Laura Ingalls Wilder Events). Check out the page version of this post which I update with major changes.

Let me know if I’m missing any. Most of these events are annual, but check with the group hosting the event for exact dates for following years.

NOTE: The Little House on the Prairie website uses a more extensive definition of events then I do. So check them out for additional listings.

Laura Days in Pepin 2013

I’ll always have a soft spot for Pepin because it was the very first Laura homesite that I ever visited. I’ve gotten to know it very well with yearly visits and posted about Pepin often, so there might not seem like there would be a lot new to say. But I had a great time this year and there have been some changes. There is an entire new wing between the formerly separate buildings that made up the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum. One of the best known bed and breakfasts has sadly closed. They’ve added a Cousin Charlie to the Little Miss Laura competition. What else? You’ll have to watch to find out.
