Even though almost all of the Laura Ingalls Wilder homesites close down sometime during the fall, this year I have an actual event to report in January in honor of Mary Ingalls’s birthday.
Vinton, Iowa – Iowa School for the Blind and Sight Saving School – The Mary Ingalls Society will be hosting a kick off event for the new Mary Ingalls pageant they will be starting this summer. They will also be celebrating Mary’s birthday on Friday, January 10th, 2014 starting at about 5:15pm. Please note you have to enter through the plywood tunnels on either side that lead to the stair towers in the backs. The pageant will be the first weekend in August, put it on your calendar now.
You might wonder about the Mary Ingalls Birthday Party that they’ve held the last several years at the American Printing House for the Blind. This year they are having a Louis Braille celebration instead.
