Laura Ingalls Wilder Building Update

If you’ve been hanging around me at all in the last few years, you’ve heard me talk about my Laura Ingalls Wilder building. It was originally inspired by a news report on a man who collected Roy Roger stuff and had a Roy Rogers room. I was instantly taken, if HE could have a Roy Rogers room, I could have a Laura Ingalls Wilder…..hmmm, no room in the house….a Laura Ingalls Wilder Building that was the ticket! (FYI he’s since given it to the Dumont Museum where you can see it today http://www.dumontmuseum.com )

As I originally saw it as a Laura version of his, initially I was just going to put my collection on display. However, as I kept dreaming about it, I decided that I also needed production space. There will be a place permanently set up for making videos and podcasts, scanners, copystands, etc. Plus all sorts of odds and ends that I have developed over the years.

It’s ended up being a bigger project then I originally imagined. It’s taken longer than I hoped too, but I finally can report we seem to be approaching the end of stage one. We’re all primed and the ceiling is finished. That means we have started putting up lights. I put some sweat equity in lately helping with the insulation and primering. We’ve hit a little snag, not sure how long until finishing now, but I’m starting to think about a spring open house.
