Cedar Rapids Public Library Photos

By trundlebedtales

Here’s a link to photos of the Cedar Rapids Public Library while it was flooded and after everything was stripped. The flooded photos were gotten because the second floor of the library is on the skywalk, the top end of which was far enough up the hill that it stayed dry. Whoever took these photos entered the library through the skywalk and came down the giant spiral staircase, shown in another of the photos after it was stripped. The flooded areas shown are the ones closest to the stairway. It’s important to stay out of flood waters for the problems with the water itself, unseen obstructions and holes, and unknown currents. For example, they were warning that the water had moved manhole covers so you could be walking in the flood waters and before you knew it be sucked down into one.
