Prairie Manor News

By trundlebedtales

My favorite bed and breakfast that I ever stayed in was the Prairie Manor in DeSmet, South Dakota. Built as a house by Banker Ruth, it was early picked out as an outstanding house appearing on early photo postcards(labeled a DeSmet residence – they didn’t all look like that). Stop by and see the postcard in the display at the Ox Bow when you are in town catching a meal.  This spiffy bed and breakfast used to have a lovely tea room, unfortunately that was cut back. Each room has a private bath and a small TV to keep you up to date on South Dakota weather, etc. It’s been for sale for a number of years. It was just bought by Andy and Jenny Todd, a couple from New Jersey, who have never lived in a small town before.  They were going to all the sites and fell in love with DeSmet. They are planning to change the menu and would like to one day add an additional room. The website hasn’t been updated yet. I hope they do well. See their website here:

This spiffy piece of news comes from the first issue of my DeSmet News subscription after being wise and thrifty for a number of years, I’ve finally given in and subscribed. Get information on how you can too, here:
